A nanny is a childcare specialist who works directly for a family in their home continually on a regular basis. A nanny is a household employee, not an independent contractor. By providing one-on-one attention, a nanny gives the best possible care to the family’s children. Duties may include tending to each child’s physical needs, planning and preparing meals, laundering children’s clothes, organizing play activities and outings, providing intellectual stimulation such as reading books or helping with homework, working on language skills and providing transportation when needed.
